Applications are invited from the prospective candidates for two weeks Training Programme on RS, GNSS and GIS using Open-Source Software to be organised by the Geographical Society of India in the Department of Geography, University of Calcutta during 01 -15th October 2015. Classes will normally be held during 2 to 7 pm for both theoretical and practical units. The objective of the programme is to develop understanding and skill in using Open Source RS, GNSS and GIS software in teaching and research of Geospatial Sciences. College/ university teachers and research scholars in Geography and allied disciplines are encouraged to apply on or before 15th September 2015 using the prescribed Application-cum-Admission Form available from the office of the Society and also in the Society’s website at www.geograpgicalsocietyofindia.org.in Course fee is Rs. 4000/- (Rupees Four thousand) only to be paid in cash or by multi-city cheque issued in favour of ‘The Geographical Society of India’. Outstation candidates should arrange their own accommodation and conveyance to attend the course. Number of seats is 30 (thirty) for which selection will be made on first come first served basis, subject to fulfilling the norms set by the Society. Employed/ full time teachers/ research scholars are required to apply through proper channel and, if selected, will have to produce a release order from the concerned authority before the start of the classes. The filled in form must be submitted to the office of The Society on Tuesdays/ Fridays between 4-7 pm, except on C.U.-holidays, on or before 15th September 2015. Selected candidates will be intimated either over Mobile Phone (SMS) or through E-mail only.
